New E-Magazine for Arizona Gardeners & Cooks

Mesa, Arizona--July 24, 2007

Catherine Crowley, better known as The Herb Lady, of Herbs 2 U, announces the launch of a new E-Magazine "Arizona's Edible Seasons" with the first issue of this downloadable e-magazine "Summer 2007" in conjunction with Lulu Enterprises, the world's fastest-growing provider of print-on-demand books. Each issue of this quarterly e-magazine is highlighted with colorful photos of her gardens and the critters that visit, recipes and tips for the cook, where to find seasonal produce, comprehensive planting information for all gardening zones of Arizona (but useful in USDA 6-10 areas too), information on greening up the household, and even an herbal crossword puzzle for fans.

When to plant the edibles, identifying plants and critters in the garden, learn what's good and bad, recipes for seasonal cooking, and other useful and fun stuff. A resource guide is always included. With this new format, Catherine hopes to give the Arizona resident a practical guide, with current and helpful information on gardening and cooking.
All in a magazine you can store on your computer and search at will.
Catherine explains the choice of doing an E-Magazine. "I contemplated another book with all of the additional and more current information out there (for example all the newer research on the antioxidant levels of various produce and herb choices), but a book takes a lot of time from keyboard to retailer, and I wanted to be able to give my readers and fans the information quicker, and to finally share with them many of the photographs we have taken and will take of the gardens. I also wanted readers to be able to find 'the' article they were reading, but can't remember where it was. A downloadable, storable .pdf file makes searching for a word or phrase a breeze."
Although the intended audience is Arizona residents, the planting information and of course recipes, are useful for all areas of the US. The planting information is set out by zones and includes all three of the best known zone references: USDA, Sunset, and Arizona Regional Zones.
An e-magazine, like an e-book is an electronic, downloadable .pft file, which can be small or large. The e-magazine is not available in a printed format. This format is a less expensive (shipping and standard type of printing charges are eliminated) way to deliver subject matter of interest to readers. An e-magazine is meant to be a series of similar topic areas of interest, and may be smaller in page number size than an e-book.
A cover shot and preview is available on the publisher link -- www.lulu.com/content/875338.
Herbs 2 U was founded to educate and inform folks on gardening with herbs, edible flowers and other edible plants, and then how to bring those useful and flavorful plants into the kitchen, and create declicious meals, with real food for real flavor.
Catherine is also the author of "Edible Landscaping in the Desert Southwest: Wheelbarrow to Plate" -- all about how to garden successfully in the desert and includes gardening tips, a month-by-month calendar, and recipe ideas on how to use of the garden bounty, and "101+ Recipes from The Herb Lady" -- over 150 recipes using real food for real flavor.
Catherine's classes on growing and using edible herbs and flowers and other edibles are offered in locations around the Valley of the Sun, both private and public, including the Desert Botanical Garden and Boyce Thompson Arboretum.
